Well I never knew it was fashionable to take graduation photos at the Esplanade, Merlion Park, or the old Parliament House for that matter. I thought only newlyweds-to-be went to such places! Once was with PADZ and friends, then with the SoC FOW gang (though only Xiang Hui was game enough to don his graduation robe at the Merlion). Third time round with CSC graduating class of 2008! Who says you only wear your graduation gown once in your lifetime?

Most of us have been friends since Ethelontêr II. That was 2005. Not the friends who always hung out with each other but friends who were always there, friends who you keep seeing every other moment. This photoshoot is of us three years later, in 2008. And so they say, "Graduate loh!"

A Saturday afternoon of catching-up and fun. So much joy bursting forth all the way from the Esplanade to the Padang. We didn’t manage to get to Parliament House for the last phase of our shoot because it was close to sunset by then and hordes of people had gathered there to watch the fireworks display to be put on later that night. Oh yes, it was the night of National Day Parade Preview show. We managed to get some pretty rare photos with the Singapore flag in the background and that of the pretty patterns made by the contrails from the flypast display.

The afternoon saw us jump, throw our mortarboards, balance, lie on the grass of Padang amongst a list of things we would never usually do on any other day. There were the good shots, the bad ones, the unglamourous poses and the random photos. Did I forget to mention you only graduate once? Our antics and activities attracted the attention of countless passerby who took their snapshots of us, particularly this professional photographer who volunteered to take photos for us with his digital SLR. And by the words of my friends, he took an abundance whether we posed for it or not. Let’s hope he responds to our attempts to reach him for those photos =)

Graduated attendees for the day: Xiaoying, Shifeng, Jasmine, Luke, Renhong, Yun Cai, Joo Chuan, Fred, Junhui, Genevieve, Ling Fong, Khoon Hong, Crystal, and me. Denise and Lihui were also present and were responsible for many of our shots for they were our photographers for the day! Quek then joined us post-photoshoot for dinner and dessert.
